Yanabu Akira is professor of Comparative Cultures at St.Andrew's University (Momoyamagakuin Daigaku) in Osaka, Japan. His primary research interest is science of translation. He has researched cultures through languages. He has published numerous books and papers in Japanese, include: "The thought of Translation − Shizen versus Nature (翻訳の思想−自然とnature)" 1977, Tokyo: Heibon Bookstore, "The history of Translating words in Japan (翻訳語成立事情)", 1982, Tokyo: Iwanami Bookstore.
